When and where will the workshop be held?
The second Faculty Development Workshop “Basic Course in Medical Education Technologies” will be held in the Conference hall on the ground floor of library block in March, 2011. Proposed dates are 15 to 19 March, 2011.
How do I get to attend?
By Monday, 28th February, the Principal's office is expected to forward a circular from the MEU to the heads of departments requesting them to depute those members of the faculty who have not yet attended the “Basic Course in Medical Education Technologies”. You may request the head of your department to recommend your name.
How is the workshop organized?
The resource persons for the workshop are drawn from the faculty of the UCMS. To allow small group sessions and group exercises the workshop will be limited to 20 participants.
How do I benefit by attending?
Primarily, you will be introduced to teaching-learning methods. The workshop will be run in such a way as to model the facilitation of large and small group teaching sessions, using group discussion and exercises, mini lectures and activities.
Attending Medical Education Technology workshops is increasingly being seen as an essential requirement for career progression by employers such as Delhi University and regulatory bodies such as the Medical Council of India.
Attending the Basic Workshop will entitle you to attend the advanced workshops that are being planned by the MEU.
This workshop is expected to be endorsed by, and is on the lines recommended by the MCI; the content will exceed the minimum content mandated by that body.
I would like to know if the workshop will be held for the entire day, i.e. Will I be able to attend to departmental work simultaneously?
The proceedings will begin at 9.00 AM and continue till 4.00 PM; except on Saturday, the 19th when the workshop will culminate at 1.00 PM. The sessions will be work-intensive, requiring your full participation throughout the day. Please understand that you will not be able to attend to departmental, or any other, work for the duration of the workshop. To qualify for certification you need to attend all the sessions.
