Prof. Arati Bhatia

Prof Arati Bhatia is a graduate of Amritsar Medical College (January 1972). After a post-graduation in Pathology from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, in 1976, she settled on a teaching career in the Department of Pathology, University College of Medical Sciences (UCMS). Baring six months when she worked at the Boston Hospital for Women, Boston, USA, she has worked in various faculty positions at UCMS. She was appointed Professor of Pathology in March 1991.

 

Her field of special interest is Cytopathology. She has headed the Cytopathology services since its inception in 1980, and has been responsible for quality of reporting, quality control and administration.  She has been advisor to the technical quality control committee of National Accreditation Board for Laboratories (NABL) in India. She also reports Surgical Pathology and has a special interest in Gynecological Pathology.

Medical Education, particularly under graduate teaching, has been her special endeavor. Currently she is evaluating existing methods of assessment used at the undergraduate level in various departments at UCMS.  She introduced the Mentorship program for medical students at UCMS in 2009, and would like to introduce a mentorship program for junior faculty in this institution
