Dr. Bhupendra Kumar Jain completed his medical education, both undergraduate and postgraduate, from LLRM Medical College, Meerut. He then underwent further training in GI Endoscopy, Laparoscopic Surgery, and Hospital Management. He has worked in the faculty of several teaching Institutions: Goa Medical College, Panaji; JIPMER, Pondichery; and BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Nepal. Currently Prof. Jain is Head of the Department of Surgery at Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital and University College of Medical Sciences, Delhi.
Prof Jain is a Fellow of International College of Surgeons and Association of Surgeons of India, Member of National Academy of Medical Sciences and several other professional associations. He has held prestigious assignments like Dean of Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Delhi. He has made significant contributions in the field of medical education, teacher’s training, and curriculum development at national and international level. He has been a member of Medical Education Core Groups and Scientific Working Groups. He has been associated with WHO in development of curriculum for ‘Family Medicine’, and development of teaching modules on ‘Injury Prevention and Control’ for undergraduate medical education in South-East Asia Region.
Prof. Jain has a special interest in surgical management of complex anal fistula and has proposed a looped seton for management of anal fistula. His publications on hydatid cyst, jejunogastric intussception, anal fistula, psoas abscess, and prostatic abscess provide a new insight in the management of these conditions.
