S T E P 2010

A 3 day foundation course for senior residents

The training program is designed for Senior Residents to provide a basic idea

of medical education technologies which can help them in career progression.

Workshop Objectives:

At the end of the workshop, the participants shall be able to

Demonstrate greater understanding of how students learn, and how to

utilize different learning technologies

Have a repertoire of powerful pedagogical practices from which to plan,

implement and evaluate their own teaching to engage students in the learning

process.

Demonstrate competence and skill in understanding and using a range of

assessment methods commonly used in Medical Education.

Give feedback in an appropriate manner.

Employ goal-seeking behavior and team-work in medical education, and as life

skills.

 

Duration and timings

Three days

 

0900 hrs to 1600 hrs on 26, 27 and 28 July, 2010

at Conference Hall, UCMS and GTBH.

Eligibility criteria

Who should attend?

Senior Residents who want to hone their skills in

basic medical education technologies.

Pool Officers who wishes to pursue a career in

teaching

Course contents

Group dynamics, Pedagogy vs Andragogy,

systems approach, educational objectives,

domains of learning, blueprinting, microteaching,

feedback, telegogy, active learning in large group,

small group and at bedside, assessment of

cognitive domain, setting a question paper,

OSCE/OSPE, long case and ethics.

Course material

The delegates will receive specific designed hand

-outs along with stationery folder.

Methodology

Lectures, highly interactive sessions, group

discussions, small group activities and role plays

will form the crux of the learning experience.

Certification

The participants will receive “Certificate of

Participation” only after attending all the

sessions.

Course fee

Participants will be provided complementary tea,

coffee and lunch at the workshop venue. A

nominal registration fee of Rs.950/-, will be

levied.

 

Nominations: There are only 20 seats and the nominations are accepted on ‘first come-first served’ basis with preferably not more than 2 from each department. It’s the responsibility of the participant to get necessary permission from their department.
